Odd Culture Newtown is looking for a wine professional to join our all-star lineup. We boast a serious and extensive beverage offering, alongside a kitchen led by Jesse Warkentin and James MacDonald, exploring all things fermentation. A huge wine list, magnums of lambic and Reschs on tap. We’ve got it all.
You’d be service-focused (and more importantly, passionate), just as comfortable in a fine dining setting as an inner west bottle shop, with a genuine interest in providing guests with an honest and enjoyable experience, backed up by some serious knowledge.
Strong in running a restaurant service, supporting wait staff and the kitchen pass, however ultimately driving wine sales whilst being a source of knowledge for both guests and staff. Outside of service, you’d also be assisting in wine trainings and stock control.
The room for growth within the company is huge with a number of new projects just on the horizon (interstate, too). The role itself also has massive scope, particularly if you’re interested in learning the ropes of wine buying and working alongside the Group Beverage Manager in the curation of our offering.
We’re extremely flexible in that the role can be tailored to the right person, full-time or casual. We only ask that you’re ready to jump into service on weekends to pour the good juice.
You’d be reporting directly to our Restaurant Manager and Group Beverage Manager. The role starts whenever you need it to.
We just want someone who gives a shit about wine and good service. If that’s you, reach out with your resume to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what you’re drinking at the moment.
(Just quietly, we were also recently named #1 bar in Sydney by Timeout, after receiving a 14.5/20 by Good Food. It’s a good place to be.)APPLY
